First time blogger!

Hey Everyone!! Well this is the first time I have ever blogged!! How exciting!! Well I guess with this first blog I will tell everyone a little about me:

I live in Missouri with my wonderful husband and we will be going on 3 years of marriage this year! We met/dated/got married within 2 and 1/2 months in 2006!! It was one of those things of when you know, you know!! I look back and laugh at myself and I will explain a little more in what I mean about this- All through high school and college I didn't date much (maybe had 2 or 3 boyfriends that whole time) and I can remember agonizing over it all and constantly fretting over when my time would come for a guy to come into my life who truly loved me!! It seemed as though around the age of 23 I finally let God just do what He wanted with me and let him move me from California to Missouri to work in full-time ministry and that was all I was focused on!! Shortly after that, poof, there was the man of my dreams and God truly knew the plans all along!! So it seems silly now that I just didn't trust God all along!!

I work for a non-profit called Rural Compassion (www.ruralcompassion.org) as a thrift store manager and whatever else that needs to be done!! Its a job that is very fulfilling and very rewarding!! If you don't know, we go into rural areas throughout the United States and help churches, leaders, or whoever is interested, get a vision for helping the impoverished and people in need!! It may be by helping with food pantries, seeing after-school programs get put in place, encouraging chaplains for fire/police/EMS, and much more! We also help after disasters have gone through small towns by bringing food, clothes, diapers, or whatever else is needed!!

I am currently working on getting my EMT registry and that is scary and fun all at the same time!! I have enjoyed learning how to help people in life-threatening situations, but you realize quickly how fragile life is and how much responsibility that EMTs, Paramedics, Fire Fighters, Police all have!! Kudos to all of you who work in these fields in serving and protecting everyone!

More to come later.......

  2. Good for you, Kristina! Blogging is great fun!

I'd love to hear more about what you are doing here locally for people in need and what happens when people come to the thrift store asking for help. I'm sure you have plenty of stories that will fill plenty of posts...with the names changed to protect the needy, of course! ;)
